July Meeting

July 12th at the Hockinson Firestation, 7pm.

Amy will bring her cream separator for a "show and tell" with samples of the cream products.

Business meeting agenda will included fair conversations.

No meeting in August, unless you can join us for lunch at fair.........

If you plan to show at fair deadline for registration is on July 15th. Turn registration into fair office.

No May Meeting

We scheduled the meeting for one date, then had to move it............the rescheduled date is now being overshadowed by a superintendents meeting for the fair. Because more than half of the members are involved, one way or another, with the fair meeting the decision to cancel a May meeting was decided from the members while we attended the cheese class. See you all in June on the 13th.

FOR SALE...LOOKING FOR A>>>>>

New side bar to sell your goatie stuff or let other your looking for something....check it out!

March 8th Meeting

The next meeting is on March 8th, 7pm, at the Fire Station. I would think, we'll make a sign up list for members to volunteer food items for the April cheese class.

The usual sign up includes 4 pots of soup, rolls & butter, & crackers. Of course IF you have home made cheese to contribute please do! Candy will purchase a varity of cheeses for tasting during the lunch portion of the class. All members in good standing with their membership will not have to pay the $15 registration fee.

Maybe the topic of discussion for the round table portion of the meeting can include kidding because last time we talked about buck selection :)

February 8th Meeting

Well we had some bad weather in January so that meeting got canceled (darn it)......so the next meeting in February 8 at the Hockinson Fire Station at 7pm.

Dues are due for members at the tune of $15 smack-a roo's. Well worth the green backs because just one of the cheese classes would be $15 ( there are always 2 classes a year). If you prefer a check ( it's a right-off at my place) please make it out to Clark County Goat Association (CCGA).

We are still planning on the discussion of kidding season. Looking forward to see you all there!

January 11th, 2010 Meeting

We will start out with the business part of the meeting and adjourn to the topic of the month discussion.

January is "Getting Ready for Kidding Season".

Join us for the kidding topic and bring your advice, thoughts, stories, and tips to the group for a round table discussion. Show and tell items always welcome. Bring kidding list/kit of items and kidding records for share-show and tell.

Annual membership dues will be collected to be in good standing. Dues are $15. Checks preferred and written out to CCGA.

Remember if your in good standing with the Association the Cheese Classes are FREE :)

Cheese Classes

NEXT CHEESE CLASS IS.............April 16th at the Hockinson Fire Station. Contact Candy Yarnell to sign up. Cost of class is $15 a person. A light lunch of soup and bread is provided by the Clark County Goat Association. Enjoy the cheese tasting table during the lunch break. A variety of local artisan cheeses as well as commercial cheese for your tasting pleasure.

This is a great way to spend the afternoon talking CHEESE, learning CHEESE techniques, and eating CHEESE. If you're a beginner or advanced cheese maker there is always something to learn from Mary. Questions VERY welcome.

Clark County Goat Association hosts 2 classes a year. One in the spring and the other in the fall. More information will be posted as the information becomes available.

Mary Rosenblum: Cheese Instructor "Extraordinaire"

Weight loss food: cheese

Women who ate an ounce of full-fat cheese (picture a wedge about the size of your thumb) daily gained fewer pounds over time than their less-cheesy peers, a study in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition shows. Whole dairy contains conjugated linoleic acid, which may stoke your metabolism. One low-cal wonder: full-fat ricotta. It weighs in at a scant 49 calories and 4 g fat (2 g saturated) per ounce and has the lowest amount of sodium of any cheese out there. For a decadent-tasting dish, toss ricotta with pasta and fresh herbs or stir it into jarred tomato sauce for a flavor upgrade.
